Tyrannosaurus rex

Tyrannosaurus rex was a species of dinosaur that lived in what is now North America. Tyrannosaurus rex was an enormous, powerful carnivore — definitely not a dinosaur you'd be happy to meet face-to-face.

Fossilized bones show that Tyrannosaurus rex lived over 60 million years ago. If you've seen the movie "Jurassic Park," you're familiar with this giant dinosaur, often referred to as T. rex for short. Tyrannosaurus rex had very strong back legs and small forelegs and weighed at least seven tons. It was a fearsome predator, with the most powerful bite of any dinosaur and one serious disadvantage — because of its size, it was unable to run.
